Completed in 1977 to house the School of Law and its research and service components, Lamar Hall was named in honor of L.Q.C. Lamar. The building also housed the Eastland Law Library, named for the Hon. James Oliver Eastland. Lamar currently houses the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Center for Writing and Rhetoric, Writing Center, William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation, Center for Population Studies, Center for Archaeological Research, and McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement.
