Professor Fields-Black is the author of Combee: Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom During the Civil War (Oxford, 2024), which recieved numerous awards, including the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in History, the 2025 Gilder Lehrman Lincoln Prize, and the 2025 Tom Watson Brown Book Award.
